This is one of those weeks where I feel proud and nervous and excited and crazy (although that last isn’t anything unusual) all at the same time… and it’s not even my own child that is the cause!
I have a piano student that took the AG Fine Arts regional competition by storm and is right now in Florida competing at the national AG Fine Arts Festival! She played this morning and got a Superior, and is waiting to hear if she made call-backs or not.
It makes all those hours of research and teaching (and far more hours of practice, on her part) worth it… although I’ll admit that if I hear that particular arrangement of “Majesty” too many more times, I may yank out all my hair and run screaming from the house. Just kidding… mostly! I’m sure her family feels that way too.
But, hey – I have a student at a NATIONAL competition. I’ve never had a student compete at a national level before! I think I see why some teachers specialize in competitions; it’s a rush. I’m on tenterhooks waiting for the results to come in.
I’m pretty anxious for normality to return too, afterwards!
