Still Pregnant

Sometimes these lessons on patience are just a little tough to deal with, y’know?

The Demolition Squad was handed off to their grandparents on Sunday.  Monday, I had a full day of piano lessons and an evening with the wonderful moms in our homeschool group.

The plan was, have the amniocentesis done on Tuesday, have the baby Wednesday morning.

Except.

Tuesday afternoon, I got the call from my OB/Gyn.  It’s never good news when the doctor calls.  He lets the nurses deliver the good news.  It turns out that baby’s lungs are not quite ready to be hatched yet.  Can’t do c-section this week.  Gotta wait till next week.

Today is a bit rough.  I’m supposed to be in the hospital, recovering from surgery and snuggling a newborn right now.

Instead, we went out for lunch and I got a haircut.  My hair’s gotten so long that I’m getting headaches; might as well take care of that since the kids aren’t here.

My wonderful, long-suffering, incredible in-laws say they’d rather keep the kids than ship them home for a week, so we’ve got time (and silence) on our hands.  Mr. Caffeinated cleaned the kitchen and it stayed clean for a whole 24 hours.  So it’s not like there aren’t any silver linings.

But.  Truth be told, I’d rather be in the hospital, cuddling a newborn.

Meh.  Patience.  It’s overrated.

I think I’m in need of some chocolate therapy…

About dep31

I am a farm-raised homeschooling mom. I take great joy in making nutritious food that inspires people to take seconds. Thirds, anyone? We are a God-fearing, Christ worshiping family that enjoys good friends and good eats. If the kitchen is clean and the living room carpet is visible, then that's a nice bonus.

Funny, I checked in here tonight because I was thinking it must be about time and I wanted to see if there was any news. That extra week (or nine days, but who was counting…), I remember it so well. Ugh!

  2. I’m scheduled for a section next Wednesday. I feel your pain!

Sisterly solidarity is a wonderful thing!

I was poking around on your blog – you lucky duck, you got an evening appointment! My hospital only schedules c-sections for O-dark-hundred; mine’s at 7 AM with a 5:30 AM arrival time. And me a night owl!
